WHY BEING B CORP IS IMPORTANT
In September 2022 BKL become a very proud Certified B Corporation. That meant becoming part of a worldwide community of businesses that believe business can, and should, be done better.
B Corporations across the globe are certified by a non-profit network called B Lab, who are on a mission to make all business a force for good.
As part of the certification process, we had to meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability.
Being a B Corp is more than just a certification, it is about being part of a movement towards a better future.
BKL now has access to a rapidly-growing network of businesses, who share our commitment to doing business in a responsible way. As part of this community, we can collaborate our efforts and learn from each other to continue on the journey towards progress.
Clients can be safe in the knowledge that by working with BKL, you will be working with a company that is committed to having a positive impact on its people and the planet.
We were very proud to receive an overall score of 83.6, on our first attempt at certifying. This score is measured through a B Impact Assessment (BIA), where every detail of the business is scrutinised. To become certified, you need to achieve an overall score of 80+ out of 200. We are working to increase that number every time we re-certify.
We also earned the status of an Impact Business Model – meaning that BKL was designed to create a specific positive outcome for our stakeholders.

Which includes setting up our charitable foundation and being accredited by Inclusive Employers – we began our B Corp application process in 2021. It enabled us to assess our impact on our people, clients, communities and the environment in detail. This has helped us to better understand our ESG (environmental, social and governance) responsibilities.

Working together
We have a growing number of dedicated ‘BKLers’ that make sure that we are accountable for our actions inside and outside of the workplace.
Mosaic is an internal group of volunteers, who meet on a monthly basis to ensure that we are staying true to our values and making improvements within BKL, whether that be environmentally or socially.
There are now thousands of companies doing good in the B Corp community, but there’s always room for more.
