Continuing a run of senior level appointments, Jason Appel, Doug Sinclair and Philip Jahn are promoted to key positions within the successful BKL team.

London-based chartered accountants BKL are delighted to announce the promotion of three valued colleagues: Jason Appel and Doug Sinclair to partner and Philip Jahn to senior manager.  These promotions, together with senior lateral hires in recent months (e.g. Lee Brook and Geraint Jones) reflect the firm’s continued growth and commitment to developing its talent.

Jason Appel joined BKL in 2002 as a trainee accountant, rapidly rising through the ranks to senior manager and now as partner.  Jason commented that his recent promotion to Partner felt “truly fantastic” adding that, “being ‘home grown’ makes it feel even better. I’m proud of the values BKL stands for and what it strives to achieve. I’ve seen many exciting changes in the firm over the past few years, and I’m looking forward to being a part of its success in the future and having a direct influence on our plans for growth.”

Doug Sinclair joined BKL three years ago as head of tax investigations after 4 years at Crowe Clark Whitehill.  His brief was to build a successful specialist tax investigation team for the practice – he went one further and created one of the fastest growing departments in the firm. This year, Doug’s team has been shortlisted as Best Tax Investigations Team at the prestigious Taxation Awards, demonstrating his considerable success and reputation in the field.  He says “I am incredibly pleased and proud to be promoted to partner at a time when the firm is going from strength to strength. I am looking forward to the new challenges ahead.”

Philip Jahn also started his accounting career as an accounting trainee 9 years ago, rising through the ranks to his recent promotion as Senior Manager. He says “I’m enormously happy.  It’s great that BKL recognises hard work and technical expertise, as well as providing a support framework to help their people to succeed.”  He adds that he is “now particularly looking forward to recruiting and training new and existing team members as BKL continues to grow.”

BKL’s managing partner Jeff Hartstone commented “we are delighted to continue to promote from within, alongside recruiting new team members, to support our ambitious growth plans.”
