Boris calls for stamp duty cut

Insights, Property, Publications

‘Boris Johnson has urged George Osborne to cut stamp duty to help first-time buyers. Mr Johnson said cutting the duty would stimulate the housing market and give a much needed boost to the economy.

“Stamp duty is very high at the moment and you can certainly look at cutting it in the round. The benefit would be to reduce the price of a home and stimulate the market. We need to make sure that we get housing moving. It’s the single best thing you can do for the economy at the moment. It will drive tens of thousands of new jobs,” he said.’
