‘The Halifax has said that house prices are rising at their fastest annual rate for nearly three years.
The lender said prices in the three months to the end of June were 3.7% higher than in the same quarter last year – the fastest rate of increase since August 2010.
Prices rose 0.6% last month compared to May.
Both readings beat analysts’ forecasts for a 0.4% monthly rise and a 3.6% annual increase.’
