NPPF Would be Scrapped Under Labour

‘Communities should have the right to decide on building developments in their area, Hilary Benn has said.

“Local communities should decide where they want new homes and developments to go and then give their consent in the form of planning permission. It’s the difference between having a say and having it done to you”, Mr Benn tells the Daily Telegraph.

His comments came as Labour sources indicated that the party would scrap the Coalition’s National Planning Policy Framework.

Labour wants laws to ensure that developers focus on building on brownfield sites to avoid the “free-for-all” in the countryside.

Unpopular legislation allowing ministers to overrule councils which delay planning applications would also be scrapped, it is understood.’
