Nick Bishop is an Audit Partner at BKL, specialising in audits and financial reporting for owner-managed businesses, corporate groups and FCA-regulated firms.
He works with clients across a wide range of sectors, with particular experience in property and construction, financial services and technology-led businesses.
Nick advises organisations at all stages of growth, from entrepreneurial businesses to large and complex corporate groups. Clients value his ability to combine strong technical accounting expertise with a practical understanding of the commercial challenges facing growing businesses. His focus is on delivering a smooth and efficient audit process while providing insights that support better decision-making, stronger governance and long-term business growth.
He has significant experience working with businesses that operate within complex structures, including multi-entity groups, joint ventures, international organisations and UK subsidiaries of overseas companies. He regularly leads group audits, advises on technical accounting matters and helps businesses navigate evolving reporting requirements as they grow, restructure or expand into new markets.
Nick has particular experience in the property and construction sector, advising property developers, construction businesses, property investment groups and student accommodation providers. He understands the accounting, reporting and commercial considerations that arise throughout the property lifecycle and regularly works alongside BKL’s specialist tax teams to help clients address complex business challenges.
Alongside this sector experience, Nick advises a wide range of businesses on audit, financial reporting and governance matters. He has worked extensively with FCA-regulated firms, financial services businesses and technology-led companies and is particularly experienced in helping organisations address complex accounting issues, strengthen reporting processes and meet the expectations of investors, lenders and regulators.
Known for his collaborative and pragmatic approach, Nick brings together specialists from across BKL where required to ensure clients receive joined-up advice across audit, accounting and tax. He helps clients improve reporting processes, gain greater confidence in their financial information and ensure compliance requirements are met efficiently and effectively. His aim is to ensure that the audit process delivers genuine value beyond compliance and supports the wider commercial objectives of the business.
Nick began his accountancy career in 2009, qualified in 2012, joined BKL in 2013 and became a Partner in 2023.
