Chris leads our personal tax compliance team, ensuring they provide depth of support to a broad range of clients, from sportspeople to cryptocurrency holders.
With over 20 years’ experience in tax, Chris is familiar with the changing nature of the tax landscape and the importance of guiding people through its complexities.
As part of the personal tax team, Chris also works closely with our tax specialists, including trusts & estates, tax risk & dispute resolution and business tax. This helps us to give expert tax advice suited to each client’s circumstances and goals.
Among Chris’s specialisms, he advises clients on the tax implications of divorce (marriage and civil partnership breakups) and permanent separation, giving clear guidance at an often complicated time. This includes income tax, inheritance tax, capital gains tax and the effect on tax reliefs.
Chris is also one of BKL’s experts in cryptocurrency tax and the implications of holding, trading and converting crypto to fiat currency.
Chris also specialises in advising sportspeople on the personal tax implications of their plans, including moving to and from the UK.
Before joining BKL in 2018, Chris was a personal tax manager at MHA MacIntyre Hudson for eight years. He has also worked for NA Associates and Smith & Williamson. Under Chris’s leadership of the personal tax compliance team, BKL won Best Employer in Tax at the Taxation Awards 2023.
Chris is one of several avid bike riders at BKL. He has cycled through a variety of locations, including London and Cuba. When not in a cycle lane, Chris also enjoys being on the hockey pitch.
