I help clients make sense of complex regulatory and compliance requirements in a way that is practical, proportionate and commercially useful. My focus is on giving financial services firms the confidence to grow, adapt and meet their obligations without adding unnecessary complexity.
Ben specialises in financial services, with a particular focus on payment service providers, electronic money institutions, open banking providers, FinTech businesses, financial market infrastructure firms, banks and other regulated firms. He also advises on sector-agnostic regulatory themes, including operational resilience, Consumer Duty, wind-down planning and digital operational resilience.
Ben has more than 20 years’ experience across financial services regulation, compliance and risk. Before joining BKL, he led and built the Payments Practice at Ocorian Consulting, formerly Bovill, where he advised payment services, e-money, FinTech and financial market infrastructure clients at different stages of growth. He graduated from Manchester University in 1999 with a Masters in Electronic Engineering, and is also a chartered accountant and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Ben’s advice is practical, tailored and focused on helping firms meet their regulatory obligations with confidence. This includes helping firms throughout the regulatory application process, drafting tailored policies and procedures, assisting with regulatory reporting, and providing ad-hoc advice.
Ben has been involved in local volunteering and community activities, including acting as treasurer for a local Scout group.
