Duncan Hardy, BKL’s Group Chief Digital Officer, chaired The Alternative Accountancy Strategic IT Conference on 5-6 March 2024. Katia Zavershinskaya, BKL’s Head of Applications, also took part in the conference which was organised by Alternative Events.
As well as chairing, on Day One Duncan facilitated a two-part Technology Focus panel discussion with fellow IT and accounting professionals. Part One was titled Cloud accounting software for frustrated on-premise users or organisations who have outgrown entry-level cloud solutions. Part Two was titled Confront an uncomfortable truth: Technical Debt isn’t just a tech issue—it’s a strategic blocker for accounting firms.
Also on Day One, Katia was part of a discussion titled What are the biggest innovation roadblocks? And how can we get around them?
On Day Two, Duncan took part in the discussion Everything I hate about accounting IT, based on the format of the TV series Room 101.
Duncan has over 20 years’ experience in senior IT leadership roles within both SMEs and FTSE 100 multinationals. He brings first-hand opinions and perspectives from a range of sectors including education, defence, manufacturing and professional services. He joined BKL as our CDO in 2019.
Katia is a technology and data privacy leader with over 15 years’ experience across a range of industries including sport, retail, supply chain and professional services. As our Head of Applications, Katia is responsible for BKL’s technology transformation and strategy as we grow.
Day One of The Alternative Accountancy Strategic IT Conference coincided with Day Two of The Alternative Accountancy Management Summit 2024. The summit featured our CEO Lee Brook as a keynote speaker.
