Private client tax: expert help to preserve your wealth

Geraint Jones – Partner, Head of Private Client Tax

The complexities of UK and international tax, potential tax changes from the new UK Government, and the uncertainty of life, make wealth planning a challenge. Trusted advice enables you to understand your options and plan ahead.

Whether you’re seeking guidance for yourself, your family or your trust, we have specialists who can help you: from personal tax, trusts and non-domiciled services to estate planning, wills and probate. Among the areas we advise on most often is inheritance tax, particularly for property.

Four of our team feature in the latest Accountants & Tax Advisers Index from Spear’s, recognising the top private client advisers. We’ve also been ranked as one of eprivateclient’s Top Accountancy Firms for 2024. And our advice to other tax professionals is frequently published in Taxation magazine.

Karen Spencer-Smith – Tax Partner

With the recent appointment of Neil Lancaster as our newest partner in private client tax, we’re continuing to grow the in-depth expertise available to clients.

The relationships we build are personal ones but each is underpinned by decades of varied experience. However complex or sensitive your circumstances are, you’ll receive clear explanations without confusing jargon.

Autumn Budget 2024 Explained: join our webinar

While a new government’s first Budget is often momentous, Prime Minister Keir Starmer has warned that the Autumn Budget on 30 October will be “painful” with “tough decisions”.

Join us on 31 October (from 1:00pm UK time) when our tax specialists will explain what the announcements mean for individuals, families, businesses and property owners, potential next steps and how we can help.

We’re delighted that this will be the first webinar to combine the tax expertise of BKL and Wilson Wright, who came together with BKL earlier this year.

Everyone who registers will be sent a link to the recording and slides afterwards.

Tax fee protection: saving you time, money and stress

The approaching deadlines for submitting 2023/24 self-assessment UK tax returns – 31 October 2024 for paper, 31 January 2025 for online – are a reminder that every year, HMRC starts enquiries into thousands of tax returns. Anyone who submits a UK tax return could come under scrutiny unexpectedly. We’ve seen how time-consuming, disruptive and costly this can be.

Our tax fee protection, in partnership with leading UK provider Vantage, can cover the costs of our professional fees in liaising with HMRC. It has brought many clients peace of mind – and, for those clients who’ve been subject to an HMRC enquiry, considerable savings.

If you’re a BKL client who’s not already covered and you’d like to know more, we’d be happy to provide further information to help you decide.
