Umar began his career in practice as an accountant but soon found that his passion lay within the tax world and decided to specialise in private client taxation.

Umar joined BKL in 2020 and progressed to senior manager level in 2023.
Away from tax, he combines family life with sport, both as a player and as a follower of Liverpool FC.
