Lee Brook, BKL’s CEO, will be a keynote speaker at The Alternative Accountancy Management Summit on 5-6 March 2025.
Alternative Events are organising the summit, which is designed for managing partners, senior partners, MDs and CEOs of accountancy practices. The agenda focuses on helping leaders develop and take action on purpose within their firms, grow their leadership skills and attract and retain talented people.
Lee drives all aspects of BKL’s growth strategy: as a diverse and inclusive workplace, in developing client services and in making innovative use of technology. Under Lee’s leadership, BKL appointed its first Chief People Officer, Chief Digital Officer and Chief Financial Officer, as well as becaming a B Corp.
On Day One, Lee will be speaking in the keynote debate PE vs. independent in Accountancy Firms.
‘Is it better to remain independent or embrace private equity (PE) investment?
This panel will tell two sides of the story, firstly the case for independence, why firms believe staying independent preserves autonomy, culture, and long-term stability.
And the viewpoint for PE investment, can PE offer the financial backing and strategic guidance firms need to innovate, expand, and tackle issues like succession planning? Or does it signal the decline of the traditional partnership model? And is PE a viable solution to the “burning platform” problem many partners face, or does it create new challenges?
This panel will also discuss the impact of mergers and acquisitions, examining how consolidation is reshaping the accountancy sector and what it means for firms’ futures.’
BKL took private equity investment in 2023 from CBPE. In recent years we’ve combined organic growth with growth through mergers and acquisitions.
