Chartered accountants and tax advisers BKL are pleased to announce the growth of their tax team with the appointment of new Head of Personal Tax Compliance Chris Smith.
Chris has joined BKL with over 20 years’ experience in tax. He has worked for Smith & Williamson, NA Associates and most recently MacIntyre Hudson, where he was Personal Tax Manager for eight years.
As the leader of BKL’s personal tax compliance team, Chris will be responsible for a team of 20 people within the firm. The team deals with tax returns, many of them complex in nature, and provides bespoke advice to over 3,000 personal tax clients. It works closely with BKL’s tax specialists – including consultancy, trusts, tax investigations and business tax – as well as the firm’s other teams such as accounts, outsourcing and wealth management.
Chris said, “It’s exciting to be part of a firm that provides tax expertise to clients from a wide range of backgrounds. I’ve enjoyed getting to know my team: they’re enthusiastic about making a difference to our clients and I’m looking forward to doing the same.”
Geraint Jones, private client tax partner, said, “When we started looking for someone new to lead our personal tax team, we knew it had to be someone who understood the value of building personal relationships with our clients, some of whom have been with us for generations. We’re delighted to have found the right person in Chris. He’s fitted in well to a diverse team and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
