How did the bold bunch from BKL get on with the Oxfordshire Triple Challenge for our chosen charities?
The event was organised with the help of Charity Challenge, as a way for us to make a difference to our local chosen charities: Magpas Air Ambulance and Homeless Action in Barnet. BKL’s team was made up of staff from all levels of the firm, from trainee to partner.
Early on Monday 18 September, The Triple Challenge began. As suggested by the name, it tested our team in three stages.
Trek
This took the team along the Thames Path. While amazingly scenic, it was the most challenging part of the day. The team was expecting a walk of 15km but instead got 18km: 15km plus VAT, as one of our accountants observed.
Bike
A 25km ride, including some tough uphill stretches. With markers along the roads, everyone took this at their own pace, reuniting at the finish line.
Kayak
A 1.2km trip down the Thames in two-person kayaks. A relaxing end to the day. The team still had enough energy for a short race.
Here’s the team celebrating and rehydrating. Jenny Littlewood, one of our managers, summed up the day: “Overall we saw some lovely scenery, lots of wildlife and really enjoyed our time out raising money for two great causes. I am really glad I did it.”
After counting up the sponsorship, we’re delighted to announce that the team has raised over £3240 to be shared evenly between the two charities. Magpas Air Ambulance and Homeless Action in Barnet work tirelessly to make a difference to members of the local communities, so we’re proud to have echoed that in our charity challenge.
