London-based chartered accountants Berg Kaprow Lewis (“BKL”) are delighted to announce the admission of home-grown audit manager Jon Wedge to partnership last month as part of its long term plans for growth and expansion into specialist areas.
The ambitious plans of the practice have already led to some high-profile senior lateral hires to include David Evans as non-executive chairman (previously senior partner at Mazars); Andrew Levene as specialist Real Estate Tax Consultant (previously Tax Director at Grant Thornton and BDO) and Martyn Krantz (previously Tax Partner at Wilkins Kennedy and Baker Tilly), with other senior hires in the pipeline.
Jon Wedge joined BKL as an AAT trainee in September 2004, opting to head straight into the profession rather than taking a place at university. Jon quickly passed his AAT and ACA exams, and was a fully qualified chartered accountant by the summer of 2008.
This route enabled him to gain valuable experience from working directly with clients and partners from an early age, and he quickly passed through the ranks, resulting in partnership before the age of 30. Jon is the second ‘home grown’ partner at BKL after Myfanwy Neville’s appointment in 2010, demonstrating the firm’s strength in nurturing and developing talented young professionals.
Deeply proud of his achievement, Jon says making partnership before his 30th birthday has always been his ambition, and considers it a real honour. He is now ‘excitedly looking to the future with the challenges and opportunities it will bring’.
Jon said: “The partner group here at BKL have always been a real inspiration to me, and I must thank them for that. It’s exciting to think that I will continue to benefit from their vast and varied experience, but from a position where I can add my own thoughts and experience to the way the practice is run.”
“I can’t wait to get going in my new role, reinforcing the already strong relationships I share with my current clients and forging new ones, supporting the firm’s forward-looking growth strategy.”
BKL’s managing partner, Jeff Hartstone, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jon as a partner of the practice. His strong technical ability and practical approach means he has a track record of delivering an excellent service to clients – which is what we’re all about here at BKL. Jon has also played an instrumental part in the design and implementation of a recent internal restructure to improve client service and efficiency. We look forward to combining his particular skills set to the partnership group, as we move forward with our exciting plans for the future.”
