‘Twelve Conservative MPs have warned Chancellor George Osborne against agreeing to Liberal Democrat plans to “attack” Londoners with a new property tax.
The MPs launched a counteroffensive against the Lib-Dem push for a wealth levy based on property, claiming a “mansion tax” proposal was driven by “politics of envy” and would be “costly, bureaucratic, and unfair”.
In a letter to the Standard, they comment: “Additional local property taxes would hit ordinary families and pensioners. Government ministers should resist this attack on those Londoners who have worked hard all their lives.”‘
