With her blend of accounting & sustainability expertise, Our Head of Sustainability Myfanwy Neville is a voice worth hearing… and October 2024 meant two opportunities within a week! The first was the ICAEW Annual Conference on 4 October; the second was Fintech as a Force for Good on 10 October.
ICAEW Annual Conference 2024
The conference promised accountants and industry insiders ‘forward-looking insights on the economy, with breakout streams offering the choice to focus on sustainability, leadership, or technology’.
Myfanwy took part in the panel What risks are you not accounting for? The danger of overlooking ESG.
‘How to build sustainability into your risk assessment processes and avoid the danger of overlooking ESG factors … how ESG factors can affect your organisation’s financial performance, reputation, and resilience, as well as the expectations and demands of your stakeholders, such as investors, regulators, customers, and employees.
Topics including the key ESG issues and trends that pose risks and opportunities for your organization, how you can integrate ESG risk assessment into your existing risk management processes and systems, and how you can monitor and report on your ESG risk performance and progress.’
Myfanwy’s fellow panellists were Steve Kenzie from the UN Global Compact Network and Richard Andrews from KPMG.
Fintech as a Force for Good 2024
Organised by Innovate Finance, FAAFFG set out to ‘explore fintech’s role in supporting consumers through economic uncertainty, as well as its ability to help drive forward the wider ESG agenda.’
Myfanwy Neville moderated the panel Collaboration Towards The Transition To Net Zero.
‘Innovation, collaboration and collective action across sectors to accelerate the transition to net zero. What is currently being done and what is the road ahead?’
The panellists were Maria Khan from Tandem Bank; Emma Kisby from Cogo; Kevin Chong from Outward VC; Kerstin Mathias from City of London Corporation.
Alisha O’Donovan, one of our audit and fintech experts, took part in FAAFFG’s roundtable on women in retail investing. This came in the same week as the Accounting Excellence Awards where Alisha was a finalist for Breakout Star of the Year.
