Accountancy Age recently released its national list of top ’35 under 35’ high achievers, and BKL Principal, Jon Wedge, was recognised as one of the bright young things of the accounting profession’s future.

BKL are delighted to announce the inclusion of one of their principals, Jon Wedge, on Accountancy Age’s top ’35 under 35’ list. The journal described the task of whittling down the candidates to just 35 as ‘unenviable’. This goes alongside a number of recent accolades and promotions at BKL, including nominations at the National Taxation Awards and new appointments to the partnership table.

With a readership of over 65,000 in the UK, 2015 marks the fourth annual Accountancy Age ’35 under 35’ list. The accolade was created to recognise the hard work and dedication shown by young personnel working in the finance sector. BKL is thrilled to see Jon – a ‘home-grown’ colleague – make the list, following on from fellow BKL partner, Myfanwy Neville, who made the list in 2012.

Jon, a BKL partner since 2014, is delighted by the news, remarking, “I feel very proud to have made the list. One of the key elements at BKL is the high support, high challenge ethos. A career at BKL offers lots of early responsibility and access to the partners behind the business. There is a real sense of pride and ownership in the firm, and in doing a good job.”

Managing Principal, Jeff Hartstone explains, “Jon arrived at BKL as an AAT trainee, straight from school and worked hard to prove himself a competitive and determined team member. Jon moved up quickly because of his exceptional organisation, great people skills and willingness to ‘put his hand up’ to get involved. He has a can-do attitude, doesn’t get flustered easily and sees his actions at BKL in terms of driving the team forward, not as an individual.”
