We’re proud to be a Kinship Friendly Employer. BKL are the newest to be accredited at Gold standard by leading charity Kinship, in recognition of how we support employees who step up to look after another person’s child.

Since 2024, our Family Friendly Policies have covered kinship leave: when a child lives full-time or most of the time with a relative or close family friend, usually because the child’s parents aren’t able to care for them. Our paid kinship carer leave is matched to statutory adoptive leave for all kinship carers – both those with and without a legal order.

Our Family Friendly Policies

This range of policies at BKL is designed to support our colleagues through the moments that matter. They include not only traditional policies like primary carer leave and fertility support, but less standard policies such as kinship leave, grandparental leave, neonatal care and pregnancy loss.
